Pickleball Courts at Augusta Savage Arts & Community Center

Description

Building six outdoor Pickleball courts on the corner of Belle Avenue and Forbes Street, where the soccer and baseball field at Augusta Savage Art & Community Center are currently located. The area around the courts will be used as a gentle drainage to prevent flooding on the courts during and after rain. The construction of these courts will result in rebuilding the current baseball field and moving the soccer field to Vera Francis Hall Park. This project is in partnership with Clay County, with the county spearheading the construction and City responsible for maintenance of the courts once construction is complete.

Budget

Total cost for the City is $25,000. Total cost for Clay County is $130,000.

Current Progress

Interlocal agreement between Clay County and City was signed in August 2022 and amended on March 21, 2023, allocating shared cost of the project. City Council approved the Site Plan on April 4, 2023. Project is currently in the construction bid stage with Clay County. Once big is awarded, construction is anticipated to take 120 days from Notice to Proceed date (when County allows contractor to start construction).
