Planning & Zoning Board

Role of the Planning & Zoning Board

The Planning & Zoning Board (PZB) serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters relating to use designations of land, amendments to the land development code, and site development review. They are the deciding body on matters relating to special exceptions and variances.

The PZB serves as the local planning agency on matters pertaining to the city comprehensive plan in conformance with the Florida Administrative Code. The board also recommends procedures and methods to the City Council for facilitating effective public participation in the planning process.

If an applicant chooses to appeal a decision by the Development Services Department, the PZB can vote to support or overturn the department's decision.
