August 29, 2019, Green Cove Springs, FL – City Council declared a State of Emergency due to Hurricane Dorian and the expected extent of rain and wind from the hurricane. This state of emergency will remain in effect in accordance with the State of Florida’s Executive Order, as needed.
City of Green Cove Springs is closely watching Hurricane Dorian along with Clay County Emergency Management. Hurricane updates will be posted on the City website and City’s Facebook and Twitter pages as they become available.
Safety is of the utmost importance to the City of Green Cove Springs, and advises that residents prepare for Hurricane Dorian now.

Green Cove Springs, FL – The following sand bag locations have been established for Clay County and will be open Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1, 2019.
• Omega Park, 4317 CR 218, Middleburg (8am – 8pm)
• Eagle Harbor Soccer Complex, 4387 Lake Shore Dr., Fleming Island (8am – 8pm)
• Old Green Cove Fire Station #1, 21 Roderigo Ave., Green Cove Spring (8am- 5pm)
• Orange Park Athletic Association, 1086 Fromhart St., Orange Park (8am- 5pm)
• Keystone Heights Cemetery, 7304 SR 100, Keystone Heights (8am- 5pm)
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office will have supervised inmates at all five sand bag locations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to fill sand bags for residents. Sandbags are free, but there is a limit of 25 bags per family, until they are gone. Sand bags will be self-serve at the Middleburg and Fleming Island Locations after 5 p.m.

The City of Green Cove Springs Emergency Operations Center will be closed as of 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019. Worst of the winds and rains from Hurricane Dorian have passed. Residents can still report any outages to the Green Cove Springs Police Department non-emergency line 904-297-7300.
City Hall and all City operations, including trash and yard waste pick up, will resume normal business hours starting Thursday, September 5.
