City Public Works Department is applying for a FRDAP (Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program) grant for Phase Six of planned improvements to Vera Francis Hall Park. Planned improvements as part of this grant include installing new lighting for the baseball/softball field and resurface nature/walking trails in the park. The City is aiming for $150,000 in grant funding with the City matching 25 percent of the funds, which equals to $37,500. That money is allocated in the proposed FY 22/23 Capital Improvement Plan. The grant application is based on a points system for consideration of funds, and presenting to the City Council and getting the Council approval are points in favor of the City’s grant application. The deadline to submit the grant is Aug. 31, 2022, with awarded funds in July 2023.
City Council approved the grant application in a 4-0 vote, with Vice Mayor Connie Butler absent.
