Description
This project will create a multi-use trail extending from Bay Street, around the Cove to Reynolds Park, and to the Shands Bridge area. The approximately 3.6-mile trail will feature both land and over-water sections, with about half a mile constructed over the water. Once complete, the trail will offer new recreational opportunities for residents and visitors, including areas for fishing, biking, hiking, and scenic overlooks.
Budget
The total estimated cost for planning, design, and permitting is approximately $1 million. The City has already received $475,000 in legislative funding and plans to request an additional $475,000 during the upcoming legislative session to fully fund the project.
In the approved FY26 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), the City allocated $525,000 in local surtax funds to cover remaining design costs. If additional state funding is approved in the FY27 State budget, it would offset most of these local surtax dollars, reducing the overall impact on City funds.
